Taken together, Huawei’s agreement with Nigeria integrates its training systems, certifications, and standards into Nigeria’s higher education and workforce development pipeline.
Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding on ICT Talent Development Cooperation (ICT人才发展合作”谅解备忘录) with Huawei Nigeria on April 25. Under the agreement, Huawei will provide information and communications technology (ICT) training to 30,000 Nigerians through four core programs: Huawei ICT Academy (华为ICT学院), ICT Talent Cultivation (ICT人才培养), ICT Competition (ICT大赛), and ICT Double Selection Meetings (ICT人才双选会). The initiative is expected to support the establishment of more than 300 ICT academies across universities and colleges nationwide.
According to Huawei, the ICT Academy program partners with educational institutions worldwide to deliver Huawei-specific ICT training, promote Huawei certification, and develop industry-ready technical talent.
